Implications of Health Literacy for Public Health: A Workshop

A day-long workshop focusing on health literacy in public health was hosted by the Institute of Medicine Roundtable on Health Literacy on November 21, 2013.  A brief overview of the work of the Arkansas Department of Health and the Partnership for Health Literacy in Arkansas was presented by Dr. Jennifer Dillaha, who is the current PHLA Chair.  You can view the entire workshop by clicking here.

In addition, a commissioned paper exploring health literacy in public health in the United States was presented at the workshop.  It includes a case study on Arkansas and is freely available here.

We are proud of what we have been able to accomplish through the Arkansas Department of Health. Yet, this is only a fraction of the work being done around the state through the many people and organizations that are participating in the Partnership. This is something we can all be proud of.  Based on what we all accomplished together in 2013, 2014 is going to be an incredible year. Happy New Year!
